Changing the World with the Word‏

June 9, 2012

“Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God” – I Cor. 1:20-21

You know what is truly ironic? We live in what is now formally known as the ‘Information Age’: an age of knowledge, wisdom, and technology; an age of high-speed communication and know-how, of enlightenment and tolerance. It is an age where – though we might readily admit that we don’t know everything about the universe – we still firmly believe that we have the brains and the perseverance to find it out. We possess such vast sums of knowledge, and we hover on the precipice of unlocking some of the great mysteries of our existence: of physics with their unifying Theories of Everything such as ‘string theory’ and the like; of genetics and the beginnings of unlocking the complexities of the human genome; or of the possibilities in exploration such as space colonization as our satellites begin to travel beyond the reaches of our solar system – and with them, our hopes and dreams.  Concepts and ideas that were once confined to sci-fi novels and eccentric philosophers have now become reality; or at least possess the possibility of becoming reality. Our understanding of the world around us has evolved exponentially in the last century, and yet….and yet in all our earthly wisdom, we are still so spiritually foolish. In many ways, we are more ignorant than mankind of the 1st century; they, at least, held to a fundamental truth which we have forgotten or forsaken: that there is an Almighty God, and that the delicate, fragile balance of this universe is not maintained by a series of random equations, but by a single, all-powerful Equation: Our Father in Heaven. This page is dedicated to Him, and to His Son who died upon the Cross for our sins, Whose blood covers our transgressions, by Whose stripes we are healed, and by Whose death we were given true Life. Because through Him, we can change our lives and the lives of others; because through Him, we can change this world with His Word. We just need an attitude adjustment: a Beatitude adjustment.
